Since I was on the road a lot recently, and also in the midst of some projects that involve me needing to zone out and focus, I’ve been pretty much listening to music 24/7. Wait – this isn’t really a change from my norm. Carry on.
So what am I listening to as of late? Well, I’ve got two albums on heavy rotation, with a third recently getting added to the mix.
The original High School Musical may be a few years old by now, but this is still a great campy song and dance number. If anyone wants to recreate this, give me a call!

So today was a day full of randomness. Although, who am I fooling, most of my days are full of randomness, but today just stuck out as especially random for some reason.
First, there are 21 days until election day. Thank. Cheesus. Don’t get me wrong – I do like campaigns, and the candidates I am helping this time around, but I AM OFFICIALLY OVER THIS ELECTION CYCLE. The constant barrage of ads on TV (I can’t event escape them by watching stuff on Hulu!), debates, polls, money raised, blah blah blah has just gotten to me. I blame the fact that we pretty much are in a constant state of campaigns and elections here in the US.
Guys, suggestion – how ’bout we agree to give ourselves a 3 month black out before starting any new campaigns. Seriously – no emails the day after saying “The Race for 2014 STARTS TODAY!”. Send a thank you to your volunteers and supporters and then RELAX. Read a book. Watch some movies. Eat some fresh and/or homemade food. Don’t play the could’ve, should’ve, would’ve game. You can’t go back in time, so recharge yourself, take a break and come back a few months down the road ready to do work.
Second – new MIKA album today!!! 🙂 This made me super happy and it’s been the soundtrack to my day.

Finally, my favorite TV show from the UK, Skins, released information about it’s 7th series today. *cue much rejoicing and flailing from the fandom* Happy to hear some of my favorite characters will be making appearances during the 3 “movies” that will make up the 7th and final series of the show. Here’s hoping we get some resolutions to some of the cliffhangers from the previous series and casts too.
Must return to my previously scheduled work for this evening. 21 days – let’s goooooooooooooooo!

In addition to Justin Timberlake dropping the whole “I want to be an actor” routine and heading back to the studio, I hereby call for a Destiny’s Child reunion tour.
Or for two people to join me and go as Destiny’s Child for Halloween.
One of these needs to happen.
We’re finally transitioning from summer to fall here in Minnesota. As much as I love love love our perfect summers, there is something somewhat magical about this time in Minnesota as well. I think is has to do with the fact you don’t have to wear 34723942 layers of clothes to stay warm and the colors and light are just beautiful. (Note to self: schedule time soon to make a drive to capture some fall colors on film and SD card)
Woke up today to a cloudy and somewhat overcast day, and dare I say it crisp, day. It was a far cry from the 80 degrees and sunny we had yesterday, but is still lovely in it’s own way. Since I will be stuck inside most of the day doing a lot of work I figured I should create a playlist that would reflect the change in weather. Not only did I succeed in doing this, I also succeed in wanting to go back to bed and just hunker down under my uberwarm comforter.
Luckily I overcame this obstacle (through the use of copious amounts of coffee) and persevered to have quite a productive morning on a number of fronts. Aaaand, as a bonus it’s no longer ubercloudy!
That being saiad, I’m still listening to my Cloudy Day list since it needs to be cultivated for the winter ahead. A little bit ago “That Wasn’t Me” by Brandi Carlile came on, and as is usual for me, the lyrics just resonated with me. Lyrics are posted below and you can listen to it here.
